    Lakeville Area Schools strives to inspire a passion for learning in every child every day so they may be successful. Building future success starts with developing a child’s social, emotional, behavioral and academic aptitude from a young age. School environments that intentionally embed evidence-based social and emotional learning practices and programming show higher levels of academic achievement, positive behavior, self management and social competence.

    That’s why social-emotional learning (SEL) is a key component of the Lakeville MTSS Framework.


    What is Social-Emotional Learning?

    Social-Emotional Learning is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.

    Research shows social-emotional skills are enabling factors that allow students to execute learning and are the best predictors of life success.
