Adult Basic Education students find community resources at the library
February 6, 2023
This winter, students in the Adult Basic Education (ABE) program have been taking field trips to the Heritage Public Library in Lakeville, learning about the many resources available to them within our community.
Students have been able to register for a library card, explore the library through guided tours with a librarian and learn about the free resources the library offers. Many of the students have been surprised to find that the library offers free use of sewing machines, computers with creative software and classes on a variety of topics for adults and children. They also discovered the library’s large meeting room that’s available to check-out; ideal for parties and special events.
“Lakeville Adult Basic Education looks forward to further developing this and other community partnerships so students continue to learn about the many resources available to them within our community,” said ABE Manager, Dr. Tracie Kreighbaum.
Adult Basic Education is a Community Education program that helps adult learners improve their English skills, earn a GED or high school diploma, explore local career options, prepare for job entry or advancement, increase technology skills, and prepare for a post-secondary education.
