Last week, teachers at Lakeville South High School presented how to utilize ChatGPT. 

ChatGPT is a free Artificial Intelligence (AI) program that will write/solve almost anything for its users. After its launch in Fall 2022, people have been worried it will enable students to cheat and/or start replacing people in the workforce.

Mary Casserly-Smith, media specialist at Lakeville South High School, wants teachers to learn to maximize the benefits and use it as an aid rather than fear it. 

“I think the message we are really trying to get out is that as teachers we are constantly being introduced to new tools and we are doing our best to embrace this newest one,” Casserly-Smith said.

Last Spring, some teachers started using ChatGPT as a grading assistant for checking annotated bibliographies, generating example sentences for quizzes and swapping stories to other author’s writing styles to show students different techniques.
