MDE releases 2023 statewide assessment results
August 24, 2023
Today, August 24, the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) released the statewide assessment results for 2023. The results are similar to past years data in the number of Minnesota students meeting or exceeding grade level standards, reinforcing the need for more student support and interventions statewide and here at Lakeville Area Schools. The results have been compounded by continued declining participation rates especially at the high school level, which makes it difficult to draw conclusive results.
While our District continues to perform above the state average, the results further confirm that we have not bounced back to pre pandemic achievement levels. Here in our district, some strategies we have put in place include the development and launch of a new strategic plan and Lakeville Framework which is intended to enhance and support the needs of the whole child– academically, socially, emotionally and behaviorally. In addition Lakeville Area Schools provides targeted services to students who may be in need of additional student learning support like credit recovery, summer learning academy and extended school day services.
The school district’s Nov. 7 Referendum will ask the community for additional support for K-12 mental health, behavioral and academic resources to enhance consistent system-wide support for students.
Statewide Assessment results are available on the Minnesota Report Card and in MDE’s Data Center. The Board of Education will hear a MCA Report this fall.
