Enhancing School Safety with new Reporting Platform and Digital Protections for Students

September 23, 2021

Lakeville Area Schools is committed to the safety of all our students, staff, families and community. We want to let you know about two new tools the district has implemented this school year to enhance school safety measures. One is a new anonymous tip reporting system that is more widely available across all schools. The other is a digital tool that works in the background to keep students safe as they use G Suite for Education, which includes everyday tools like Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive and more. We want all students, staff and community members to know that if they see something, they should say something.

Anonymous Tip Reporting

We are replacing our former anonymous tip reporting system with an updated product called P3 Campus. It is a resource for students, staff, parents/guardians who need to anonymously report an incident or at-risk behavior, including bullying. While everyone is encouraged to share and report concerns directly with school leaders, this tip reporting system provides an easily accessible and anonymous method of reporting concerns.

This reporting tool is active now. Individuals can submit an anonymous tip online from a computer or from a mobile device. A link to submit tips is provided on the district website at A tip can be submitted anonymously to the website or from Additionally, there is a P3 Campus mobile app that can be downloaded for free on Apple and Android devices. Tips will be routed to the coordinating buildings within the district.

A trained response team of district and school staff at each building monitors anonymous tips that come in. This helps the schools and the district identify and mitigate potential risks within our schools.

Appropriate use of P3 includes concerns such as acts of violence, abuse, socialization, threats both verbal and on social media, bullying, substance use, suicidal ideation and more.It is important to remember that this anonymous tip reporting system is not an emergency 911 service. If emergency assistance is required, individuals should always and immediately call 911. It is also important to note that this system is NOT to be used for reporting grievances about district policies.

Gaggle: Digital Safety Management

In continued alignment with the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA), Lakeville Area Schools has also adopted an updated digital safety management tool called Gaggle to proactively protect students and ensure they are safely and correctly using school-provided digital tools. Gaggle flags district-issued email and G Suite for Education accounts for concerning content and alerts school officials when students show signs of self-harm, depression, thoughts of suicide, substance use, cyberbullying, credible threats of violence, or other concerning situations.

Safety and Security Plan

Through the combined use of Gaggle and the P3 Campus reporting tool, Lakeville Area Schools can proactively identify students who are struggling, provide support where needed, and create a safer school environment. These two new tools are part of our larger, proactive safety and security plan.

Thanks to the Lakeville Area community, several safety improvements have been rolling out to schools as a result of the 2019 referendum that voters approved. This includes improved lockdown infrastructure across school buildings, a third school resource officer, an additional school psychologist to help facilitate threat and risk assessment teams, enhanced Social Emotional Learning support, and information technology upgrades to meet cybersecurity requirements.
