Lakeville North and Lakeville South high schools select ExCEL Awards nominees

Lakeville North High School and Lakeville South High School have selected their nominees for the 2023-24 school year Minnesota State High School League’s (MSHSL) ExCEL Awards. The Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership recognition program is designed exclusively for Minnesota high school juniors who are active in school activities, show leadership qualities, and volunteer in their community. 

Lakeville North High School Nominees

This year’s Lakeville North nominees are 11th grade students Allondra Lilla and Kade Bishop

Allondra LillaKade Bishop

Allondra competes in Gymnastics and Track and Field. Beyond athletics, she has been involved in DECA, LNHS Book Club, Band, National Honor Society, and served as the LNHS Student Lakeville Library Liaison in 10th and 11th grade. Her community service includes volunteering at the Dakota County Library, serving as a youth soccer referee, participating in LNHS’s Serve and Social Group, and peer mentoring new DECA members. (View Lakeville North’s press release on Allondra here.)

Kade competes in Tennis, Soccer, and Basketball. He has also been involved in Band and Engineering and Innovation. In the community, Kade serves as a church youth group leader at Hossana Church, volunteers with the Lakeville Soccer Club’s ‘Soccer Tots’ program, and works as a soccer referee. (View Lakeville North’s press release on Kade here.)

Lakeville South High School Nominees

This year’s Lakeville South nominees are 11th grade students Olivia Murphy and Elisha Cairney

Olivia MurphyElisha Cairney

Olivia competes in Alpine Ski and Tennis. She has also been involved with Concert Choir, ENCORE, the South Suburban Leadership Conference, and volunteers with a number of organizations outside of school. 

Elisha competes in Cross Country and Track and Field. He has participated in Math League, serves as a Junior Class officer, and is involved with Cougars Leading Cougars. He does a great amount of community service and participates in a wide variety of organizations in the Lakeville community.

Statewide ExCEL Award recipients will be selected by an independent panel of judges from schools throughout the state of Minnesota and announced in February 2024.
