Lakeville South STEM Student Leads Kindergarten Environmental STEM Lessons
May 10, 2022
This spring, Lakeville South High School STEM senior Taylor Otremba worked with Lakeview Elementary (LVE) STEM Specialist Dawn Coats on environmental STEM lessons for LVE kindergarteners. Taylor's first lesson was about finding natural materials and examining their properties. As a follow-up lesson, Taylor guided the kindergarten students to sort the natural materials they found in the first lesson in many different ways. Finally, the kindergarten students learned how to use their sorted materials to build a shelter for animals to stay dry. The Lakeview Leaders, a 5th-grade leadership group at LVE led by guidance counselor Kate Glomstad, partnered with the kindergartners during these lessons.
