Students of the Month: May 2023
May 5, 2023
Lakeville Area Schools has a Students of the Month recognition program that highlights an elementary, middle school and high school student each month. Students are nominated by staff members. The superintendent meets each student to present them with a recognition award and a gift bag donated by the Lakeville Chamber of Commerce and Visit Lakeville.
May's Students of the Month are:
Kara Klumper, 2nd Grade, Lakeview Elementary
Nominated by Ms. Dawn Coats, Lakeview STEM teacher
“Kara has a heart of gold! She is such a kind and considerate student. Many times I have observed her talking and working with other students with patience and positivity. One example is during STEM class. Kara was working on her iPad, reviewing concepts from a unit. Another student came up and sat beside her, wanting her help. She gladly shared her iPad, talked with the student about each of the questions and openly invited that student to participate with her. When that student got the right answer, she gave them a "high five" and if they didn't, she encouraged them to continue with enthusiasm and a smile,” said Ms. Dawn Coats.
Rose Murad, 6th Grade, LinK12 Lakeville Online
Nominated by Ms. Melone Sebring, LinK12 math teacher
“Rose Murad is an exemplary 6th grade LinK12 student. Rose is motivated to do well in all of her courses. She not only wants to get good grades, but truly wants to master the content. Rose understands that the foundation she is laying now will help her rise to great heights in the future. Rose's engagement and encouragement of other students during our math live lessons is motivating to others. Rose is also a thoughtful and kind person, and I feel privileged to have her as a student!” said Ms. Melonie Sebring.
Cecil Wilson, 12 Grade, Lakeville North High School
Nominated by Ms. Holly Standke, Dean of students
“Cecil has been an outstanding leader at Lakeville North over the past four years. Active in football and track, Cecil has also used his talents in metal work to help with projects around the building. Cecil's genuine care and concern for others is evident in all he does,” said Ms. Holly Standke.
