Supporting Student Mental Health Together
Promoting and supporting mental health is essential to a student’s personal and academic success. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), 1 in 5 adults in the U.S. experience mental illness, and half of all chronic mental illness begins by age 14. At Lakeville Area Schools, we are committed to supporting the mental health needs of students through ongoing staff development, school-based counseling and support, and coordination with community-based professionals when requested. School counseling services are available to all Lakeville Area Schools students. These services are provided by licensed school counselors, school social workers, and school psychologists. It’s important to note that school-based services are not a substitute for clinical therapy and are not intended to be therapeutic in nature.
