Open Enrollment is a process that allows families who do not live within the Lakeville Area Schools district boundaries to apply to enroll their child(ren) within one of our schools.
All families wishing to open enroll into our district should review the information below and complete the application process.
Families wishing to open enroll for the current school year may complete Step 1 and Step 2 of the Application process at any time.
2023-24 School Year Application Timeline

Open Enrollment applications for the 2023-24 school year will be accepted in three separate windows.
- Applications must be submitted by the application deadline to be considered in that window.
- Open Enrollment applications will be reviewed with Intra-District Transfer requests and selected according to these approval criteria. The status of your application (accepted, forwarded to the next window, or denied) will be emailed to you on the announcement date.
- Approved applicants must then submit an application for enrollment before the enrollment deadline in order to attend school for the upcoming school year.

Step 1
To apply, please complete section one of the statewide enrollment options form and email, mail or drop-off the form to Enrollment at Lakeville Area Schools.
One application must be completed for each student.
The parent/guardian address section must contain an address in the State of Minnesota.

On the announcement date, you will receive an email indicating whether your application has been approved, forwarded to the next application window, or denied.
Approved Students: After you've received approval for Open Enrollment, you must complete Lakeville Area Schools' enrollment process by the enrollment deadline. Go to the Enroll webpage and begin on Step 2. If you do not complete the enrollment process by the enrollment deadline, you will have to reapply for the next window.
In accordance with the Minnesota Department of Education, as an Achievement and Integration participating district, we will continue to accept Open Enrollment applications and review on a weekly basis throughout the school year.

What are the approval guidelines?
Application priority is given to:
- Currently enrolled students in Lakeville Area Schools
- Children of Lakeville Area Schools staff members
- Siblings of currently enrolled students
- Integration and Achievement Plan qualifying students
- Additional preference is given to an applicant who has applied in previous windows, based on priority

Am I required to reapply each year?
Approval of your Open Enrollment application is valid for the duration of enrollment at Lakeville Area Schools. You do not need to reapply each year that your child is enrolled in the district. Your student is guaranteed open enrollment within the district until they graduate or until you choose to no longer be enrolled in Lakeville Area Schools.

What school will my student attend when they transition to middle or high school? (School Path)
The majority of students will follow this path and attend the school that shares an attendance area with their current building, if space allows.
If you would like your student to transition into a school building other than the one designated above, please contact enroll@isd194.org.
Our enrollment team will do its best to transition students according to these guidelines when space allows. These guidelines are reviewed each year and are subject to change based on enrollment and district growth.

Does the district provide transportation for open enrolled students?
No. Lakeville Area Schools is not able to provide transportation to students who do not live within the Lakeville Area Schools district boundaries.

Does LinK12 Online School use this same application process?
LinK12 Lakeville accepts open enrolled students at any time of the school year. However, students that do not live within the Lakeville Area Schools district boundaries are required to submit an application for open enrollment.
