This November, Minnesota voters will see a statewide constitutional amendment on their ballots that updates how earnings from the state’s Permanent School Fund are distributed to public schools. If approved, the change will modernize the fund’s payout formula to increase funding for local school districts starting July 1, 2027, without raising property, sales or income taxes.

Results released today by the Minnesota Department of Education show that Lakeville Area Schools students continue to excel, outperforming state averages in every tested grade level in both reading and mathematics on the 2026 MCAs.

At the September 22 school board meeting, the Board discussed the Minnesota Permanent School Fund constitutional amendment and approved the Preliminary Pay27 Levy at the maximum amount, with the final levy scheduled for certification in December. The Board also approved the sale of $65 million in general obligation bonds to support the middle school expansion projects and reviewed updates to several district policies.
