Academic Lettering

  • This Academic Lettering Award is given to students who have demonstrated excellence in the classroom at Lakeville North High School.  Students who qualifty for an Academic Letter are given a Lettering Certficate. If they wish to add or begin lettering, they will need to purchase a first time letter "L" patch or continue on with their series of lettering bar, pin, numbers, etc. Lettering patches can be purchases at any athletic store. 

    Academic Lettering Program Goals

    • To recognize students who excel academically
    • To demonstrate to students, staff, and the community the importance of academics


    • Students must obtain an overall GPA of 3.7 or higher, for two consequitive semesters to be eligible for an Academic Letter
    • Freshman must have one full year of a 3.7 GPA or higher
    • Sophomores must have two consecutive semesters of a 3.7 GPA (The second semester of the Freshman year and the first semester of the Sophomore year will meet the criteria)
    • Juniors must have two consecutive semesters of a 3.7 GPA. (The second semester of the Sophomore year and the first semester of the Junior year will meet the criteria) 

    Process to apply for an Academic Letter

    • Application forms is online
    • Applicant completes the online form and indicates the Semesters of Qualification and year they wish to apply, and submits the form online
    • Applicant’s qualifications will be verified by Administration 
    • Applicant picks up Lettering Certificate from the Deans Office, or will be delivered to the student's classroom
    • Applicant can then purchase a letter, bar, pin, etc. at any athletic store
