Growing Together Referendum - Middle Schools
Middle School Additions & Improvements - Construction Expected to Begin Spring 2027
Growing Together Referendum approved by Lakeville Area voters on May 12, 2026
Thanks to our community, the Growing Together Referendum was approved by voters on May 12, 2026. The vote was 54.04% yes to 45.96% no. This funding will help create more comparable learning environments across our middle schools and alleviate pressure due to enrollment increases. You can read the full news release here.

Summer/Fall 2026 - Finalize Plans
Design committees composed of school staff, leaders, and architects will meet and finalize detailed plans for each school.
Spring 2027 - Begin Construction
Construction is expected to begin in the Spring of 2027.
Fall 2028 - Complete Construction
Most construction is expected to be completed in the Fall of 2028.
Ongoing
The district will continue to keep the community informed about the impact of their investment.
Middle school improvements include:
- Build classroom additions and gymnasiums
- Remodel existing spaces to expand and improve:
- Small classrooms (many classrooms are below the Minnesota Department of Education’s recommended size)
- Specialist learning areas (STEM, band, choir, family and consumer science, visual arts, and media arts)
- Special education classrooms
- Small-group and flexible learning spaces
- Kitchens and cafeterias
- Administrative offices
- Improve parking areas
- Update classroom furniture and learning environments

Crystal Lake Education Center - Major Remodel
Crystal Lake Education Center (CLEC) is closed this summer, from June 4 - August 15, 2026, to complete renovations. Learn more about what this means for summer early childhood programming.

Interior Renovations & Finishes
- Replace flooring: Install new carpet and Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) with rubber bases throughout the building
- Refresh walls and trim: Remove existing wallpaper and paint all walls, doors, and trim
- Upgrade casework: Install updated casework, cabinets, and countertops throughout the building
- Modify classrooms: Lower the classroom sinks for improved accessibility
- Renovate restrooms: Replace stall dividers and floor tile
- Create dedicated staff lounge: Transform existing storage room into a new staff lounge, featuring a lunch area, dedicated workspaces, storage cabinets, and equipment space (copier, printer, paper cutter, etc.)
Mechanical & Infrastructure Upgrades
- Upgrade HVAC system: Install a new heating and cooling system throughout the building and remove the old fuel tank that isn't needed anymore
- Overhaul network cabling: Demolish all existing network cabling and replace it with new cabling throughout the building
- Build IT rooms: Construct two dedicated IT rooms, including the installation of two towers and storage closets
Exterior & Security Enhancements
- Repave front parking lot: Excavate and replace the front parking lot, including the installation of new lighting
- Expand security: Install additional security cameras

Christina Huddleston Elementary
- Network cabling: Demolish all existing network cabling and replace it with new cabling throughout the building
Eastview Elementary
- Replace flooring: Install new carpet and Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) with rubber bases throughout the building
- Paint walls: Remove existing wallpaper and paint all walls
- Upgrade casework: Install updated casework and countertops throughout the building
- Restrooms: Install new floor tile
- Network cabling: Demolish all existing network cabling and replace it with new cabling throughout the building
- Exterior updates: Install new concrete pad and bike rack; replace flag pole pad
Lakeview Elementary
- Parking lot: Patch and repair parking lot
Oak Hills Elementary
- Replace flooring: Install new carpet and Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) with rubber bases throughout the building
- Paint walls: Remove existing wallpaper and paint all walls
- Upgrade casework: Install updated casework and countertops throughout the building
Middle School Projects - Summer 2026
Kenwood Trail Middle School
- Upgrade heating and cooling system: Phase 2 of heating and AC equipment replacement (Phase 1 in Summer 2025 involved removing the oil tank to make space for the new chiller)
- Pool locker room: update cooling system in pool locker room
- Roof joist: Phase 2 of roof joist structural project

Christina Huddleston Elementary - Outdoor Classroom
Completed Summer 2025
Grass had grown over the rocks near the benches. The removal made the area look cleaner and more engaging with classes.

Solar Installation
Solar Array Installation Information
Lakeville Area Schools is adding solar to help power our schools and benefit our students and community now and into the future. Lakeville Area Schools is one of 45 school districts across the state to receive grants from the Minnesota Department of Commerce Solar for Schools Program (mn.gov/solar4schools) to install solar power.
The Solar for Schools grant covers a portion of the costs for Lakeville Area Schools to install solar panels on the rooftop of the schools in their district.
Benefits of the Solar for Schools Program
- Adding solar reduces energy costs, which are the second-highest cost category for schools.
- Students will have opportunities for real-time learning about solar power and careers in the growing clean energy economy.
- Our local economy benefits from investments made in expanding our energy infrastructure, and from adding clean energy jobs, like solar installations.
- Solar power helps reduce electricity-based greenhouse gas emissions.
- Solar power adds “homegrown” renewable sources of energy to our school and the state’s electrical grid, since Minnesota currently imports 100% of its fossil fuels.

Crystal Lake Education Center
Upgraded Playground Concrete for Accessibility
The new concrete at the CLEC playground was updated to ensure it is fully handicap accessible. This improvement makes the playground more inclusive, providing easier and safer access for students with disabilities. The upgraded concrete enhances both functionality and accessibility, allowing all students to enjoy the playground together.

Cherry View Elementary
Main Drain Pipe Replaced
Cherry View Elementary experienced a cracked main drain pipe underground. The concrete was saw cut and removed to access and replace the damaged piping. Once the repairs were complete, new concrete was poured and allowed to cure. After replacing the carpet, the area looks as good as new—so much so that you would never guess it had been completely dug up while the students were away.

New Accessible Path to Playground
The new path at Christina Huddleston Elementary was designed to provide handicap accessibility to the playground. This thoughtful addition ensures that all students, regardless of mobility, can easily and safely reach the play area, promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities for outdoor fun and play.

Eastview Elementary
Upgraded Cafeteria Flooring
Eastview Elementary received an upgrade in its cafeteria with the installation of new LVT flooring, replacing the old carpet. This modern flooring not only enhances the overall appearance of the space, making it look cleaner and more inviting, but also makes cleanup much easier and more efficient for the staff. The update has truly improved both the look and functionality of the cafeteria.

Highview Elementary
John F. Kennedy Elementary
Projects completed in 2025 at John F. Kennedy Elementary include a new accessible path to the playground and and updated roof. Continue reading below to learn more about each project.
New Accessible Path to Playground
A new paved path was installed from the media center hallway to the playground, providing a safer and more accessible route for students. This improvement will help protect the surrounding grass from heavy foot traffic and reduce mud being tracked into the school. In addition, a large dip in the area was corrected during the installation, further enhancing safety and accessibility for all students and staff.

The 100 wing at Lakeview Elementary was updated with new ceiling tile, paint, cabinets, and carpet, transforming the space.

Grading & Storage Shed Improvements
Orchard Lake Elementary was experiencing water infiltration around the shed and gymnasium, which raised concerns about drainage. This area was regraded and seeded to help absorb excess water and improve drainage capability. Along with this update, the storage shed received improvements.

Century Middle School
Upgraded Lights and Fans Installed in the Gym
The gym at Century Middle School received an upgrade with new lights and fans installed to enhance the environment for students. These improvements provide brighter, more efficient lighting and better airflow, creating a more comfortable and well-lit space for all activities. This update helps ensure that students can enjoy the gym in a safer and more temperature controlled setting.

Auditorium Seating Updates
The auditorium underwent significant seating updates, resulting in increased capacity and improved accessibility. These renovations created additional seating space to accommodate more students comfortably, while also incorporating designated wheelchair-accessible spots. This thoughtful upgrade ensures that the auditorium is more inclusive and better suited to meet the needs of all students.

New Chiller Installed & Oil Tank Removed
A new chiller was needed at Kenwood Trail Middle School. For that to be installed the oil tank had to be removed to make space for the new chiller. This is Phase 1 of heating and cooling updates at KTMS. Phase 2 will take place Summer 2026.

High School - Completed Projects
Lakeville North High School

New Accessible Path to Baseball Field
A new path was added to and from the baseball field at Lakeville North High School, providing a convenient and accessible route for students, staff, and visitors. This addition improves safety by offering a clear walkway, reducing foot traffic on the grass and helping to protect the surrounding landscape. The new path enhances overall accessibility to the baseball field, making it easier for everyone to enjoy the facilities.
New Concrete at Athletic Entrance
New concrete was installed at the athletic entrance and around the campus of Lakeville North High School, effectively repairing all of the uneven and broken sidewalks. The athletic entrance was the biggest fix, as the uneven surface had created a significant tripping hazard. This update not only improves safety for students and visitors but also enhances the overall appearance and accessibility of the entrance area.

Restructured Counselor Area
The counselor area at Lakeville North High School underwent a complete restructuring, with an improved layout designed to enhance privacy and functionality. The updated space now offers more comfortable and confidential areas for private conversations and meetings, creating a welcoming environment for students and staff.

Lakeville South High School received new concrete at the school’s main entrance. This provides a safer surface for students, staff, and visitors.
Gymnastics Gym Flooring - Sanding & Recoating
The gymnastics gym recently received a long-overdue sanding and recoating—the first time the floor has been updated since the school opened 20 years ago. This renovation not only enhances the floor's safety and appearance but also helps preserve it for many more years of use.
