Upcoming adjustments to elementary and middle school attendance areas

The district is currently in the process of making adjustments to elementary and middle school attendance areas. This means that the school your residence is assigned to may change. The new attendance areas are expected to be approved by the school board in January. An attendance area proposal will be brought to the school board on December 16.

Enrollment forms for the 2026-27 school year will be available after January 1, 2026. However, please be aware that enrollments will not be processed until attendance areas are finalized.

Per the State of Minnesota, Open Enrollment is a process that allows families who do not live within the Lakeville Area Schools district boundaries to apply to enroll their child(ren) within one of our schools.

Before starting the process, please review the School and Grade Capacity and Priority Guidelines.

Lakeville Area Schools' available capacity are based on student enrollment and capacities limits and are subject to change. The available capacity will be used in determining available seats for Open Enrollment and Intra-District Transfer application approvals. If you have questions, please email enroll@isd194.org.

Available (Green) - All applications will be reviewed, and approvals will be based on space availability
Limited (Yellow) - Applications with a priority of 1-9 will be reviewed, and fewer approvals are anticipated
At Capacity (Red) - Applications may still be submitted, but approvals are not anticipated

Elementary, Middle & High School

Applications will be reviewed on a monthly basis and are approved based on space availability at each grade level in the requested building. You will receive a response 2-3 weeks after your application has been submitted. Please refer to the Enrollment Capacity Chart before applying for availability.

Applications for the 2026-27 school year will be accepted beginning the first week of January 2026.

Application Process

Families wishing to open enroll for the current school year may complete Step 1 and Step 2 of the Application process at any time.

Step 1: Complete Section One of the Statewide Enrollment Options Form

To apply, please complete section one of the statewide enrollment options form and email, mail or drop-off the form to Enrollment at Lakeville Area Schools.

One application must be completed for each student.

The parent/guardian address section must contain an address in the State of Minnesota.

Step 2: Return Completed Application by Application Deadline

Step 3: Wait for Approval Status; Complete Enrollment Process by Deadline

On the announcement date, you will receive an email indicating whether your application has been approved, forwarded to the next application window, or denied.

Approved Students: After you've received approval for Open Enrollment, you must complete Lakeville Area Schools' enrollment process by the enrollment deadline.

Go to the Enroll webpage and begin on Step 2.
If you do not complete the enrollment process by the enrollment deadline, you will have to reapply for the next window.

In accordance with the Minnesota Department of Education, as an Achievement and Integration participating district, we will continue to accept Open Enrollment applications throughout the school year.
