Growing Together: Middle School Expansions

Growing Together Referendum approved by Lakeville Area voters on May 12, 2026
Thanks to our community, the Growing Together Referendum was approved by voters on May 12, 2026. The vote was 54.04% yes to 45.96% no. This funding will help create more comparable learning environments across our middle schools and alleviate pressure due to enrollment increases. You can read the full news release here.
Middle school improvements include:
- Build classroom additions and gymnasiums
- Remodel existing spaces to expand and improve:
- Small classrooms (many classrooms are below the Minnesota Department of Education’s recommended size)
- Specialist learning areas (STEM, band, choir, family and consumer science, visual arts, and media arts)
- Special education classrooms
- Small-group and flexible learning spaces
- Kitchens and cafeterias
- Administrative offices
- Improve parking areas
- Update classroom furniture and learning environments
What's next?

Summer/Fall 2026 - Finalize Plans
Design committees composed of school staff, leaders, and architects will meet and finalize detailed plans for each school.
Spring 2027 - Begin Construction
Construction is expected to begin in the Spring of 2027.
Fall 2028 - Complete Construction
Most construction is expected to be completed in the Fall of 2028.
