Summer Academic Services
Lakeville Area Schools offers a number of summer services for all ages. Summer Services is a collaborated effort within the district to provide continuing education opportunities to students and the community.
Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)
Small Wonders Alphabet Adventures at Crystal Lake Education Center
Small Wonders Alphabet Adventures will run from June 16th to August 20th. Small Wonders Preschool teachers provide lessons and activities that are both educational and fun for your preschool age child.
Whether you are a brand new preschooler or a returning preschooler, these classes will provide young learners with the opportunity to develop their creativity and discover the world around them. For returning preschoolers, these classes will offer your child the routine they have learned through the school year and for new preschoolers, these classes will help your child start the new school year with confidence! No class July 6, 7, or 8.
Additional preschool summer camps based on fun themes are offered; register online and join the fun.
Childcare is offered through Summer Wonder Zone for a fee.

Scholarships for Attendance:
- Twenty scholarships to this fee-based program are available for students who are at least three by June 1st, inclusive of those entering Kindergarten in the fall

Launch into Learning Pre-Kindergarten
Launch into Learning Pre-Kindergarten (held at elementary schools)
This free summer opportunity is designed to launch fall kindergartners into the fun that kindergarten has to offer. To help ease the transition to the big new world of elementary school, our small classes meet in kindergarten rooms, with kindergarten teachers who provide a balance of early literacy, numeracy and social experiences. Students with readiness factors or little or no pre-kindergarten experience are given priority enrollment starting April 20. After initial placement by readiness factor is complete, other students may be placed into remaining spots starting May 3.
- Three host schools
- Prioritized enrollment for students with readiness factors and limited preschool opportunities
- Expanded enrollment to accommodate students who have experienced limited early education experiences
- No fee
- Transportation is not provided
Requirements
- Students must have a complete Early Childhood Screening on record
- Students must be enrolled in kindergarten at a Lakeville elementary school for fall 2023
- Families should plan to attend the spring kindergarten event with their kindergartener at their school

Summer Learning Grades 1-5
In this program, students going into grades 1-5 will be provided targeted instruction in literacy (phonics and comprehension) and math (number sense and problem solving) along with Social Emotional Learning (SEL) support. Summer Learning is a time of opportunity for students struggling in the traditional school environment to receive supplemental instruction in order to strive towards decreasing proficiency gaps. It is intended to be an intervention/prevention program that focuses on the whole child for at risk students in grades 1-5. Instructors will use an integrated approach for students to strengthen their understanding of key concepts and make connections across subject areas by being exposed to small group learning rotations. The curriculum will be standards aligned, including an emphasis on the most essential standards from the grade-level just completed as well as the prerequisite skills necessary for the next grade level. This program is by invitation only. There is no cost and daily nutritional snacks/lunch are provided. Transportation is NOT provided.

Summer Adventures
Summer Adventures is a child care and enrichment program for children entering grades 1-6. The program offers fun activities, learning experiences and exciting adventures. Children may participate full time or part time throughout the summer. Summer Adventures is available to children in Lakeville Area Schools and surrounding areas.

The DEN
The DEN is a full day, middle school exclusive, youth program that will offer students in grades 6-8 the chance to build socialization skills, experience their local community, use their creative and academic brain throughout the summer and have fun in a safe welcoming environment. Kids who participate in The DEN are involved in choosing their activities for each day and what field trips they want to take. This program is specifically designed just for middle school students!

10th-12th Grade Summer Credit Recovery Program
Summer Credit Recovery Program for grades 10-12 provides short but intense classes for students who are behind in credits for graduation. This program offers the opportunity for students to recover classes needed in the core areas for graduation. Students must meet the state criteria for entering a Lakeville Pathways Academy Program.

If you are from another school district, we will also need a copy of your transcript, immunization records, and your State test scores.

11th Grade Summer Scholars Program
The Summer Scholars Program is for students who just completed the 11th grade, but need credit recovery for English Language Arts. Students attend class at Dakota County Technical College and earn their 11th Grade English Language Arts credit as well as 3 college credits. During their time on campus they will engage in project based learning that incorporates the needed reading, writing and media skills with career and exploration.
Who is this program for?
- Grade 11 students seeking high school English Language Arts credit recovery
- Students from Lakeville North, Lakeville South, the Area Learning Center and Rosemount High School
English 11 Credit Recovery:
- 2 -3 hours of the day focusing on MN English Language Arts skills in project based connection with career exploration
- Earn high school credit
- Earn 3 college credits
Career Exploration:
Spend 2- 3 hands on sessions per week in career pathways to learn about specific jobs, skills needed and career outlook in:
- Architectural Technology
- Industrial Engineering
- Heavy Duty Truck
- Nursing
- HVAC
- Biomedical Equipment Technology
