Digital Learning
Lakeville Area Schools understands the importance of preparing its students to be college and career ready in a globalized economy. The District is committed to providing its students with an education that allows them to compete, thrive and lead on a local, national and global level. The effective use and integration of technology into daily tasks is key to supporting students in learning a robust skill set that enables them to continuously open and expand opportunities professionally and personally.
Lakeville Area Schools wants to ensure students develop the skills and knowledge necessary to responsibly navigate this emerging modern world. Therefore, Lakeville Area Schools has implemented a designated learning device program for grades K-12 using the iPad to create a seamless and dynamic educational experience for students.
The goals of the program are:
-
Ensure all learners have engaging and empowering learning experiences that prepare them to be active, creative, knowledgeable, and ethical participants in our globally connected society.
-
Provide equitable access to technology to close the digital divide and make transformative learning opportunities available to all learners.
-
Utilize safe and secure learning resources that embody the flexibility and power of technology to create an ecosystem that makes learning possible at all times and in all places for all students.
Why use District devices?
-
Safe and Secure Learning: School-issued iPads are managed by the district, ensuring they comply with the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA). This means strong filtering is in place to block inappropriate content, giving families peace of mind.
-
Managed Learning: With family guidance, the district issued iPads offer access to a library of vetted and instructional apps, all curated for specific age groups and learning objectives. These apps have been carefully chosen by Lakeville Area Schools educators and can help solidify past learning and prepare your child for the upcoming school year.
-
Hard & Soft Skills Development: From coding and problem-solving to creativity and critical thinking, the iPad offers a platform to nurture a variety of skills crucial for success in school and beyond.
-
Interactive & Engaging: Learning can be fun! Educational apps often incorporate games, simulations, and multimedia elements to keep your child engaged and motivated.
