We will continue to provide up-to-date information about the district’s COVID-19 prevention strategies. We rely on guidance from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as experts in our district, including our district nurses and our COVID-19 Coordinator.
If you have questions or concerns regarding COVID-19, please call your school's health office or email email@example.com.
Summer COVID Protocol for Staff and Programs
According to the Minnesota Department of Education, the mandatory Safe Learning Plan ended after the last student-contact day of the 2020-21 school year. Only a limited number of requirements from the Federal government and State of Minnesota are still in effect to mitigate COVID-19 during our summer programming.

Data We're Tracking
In coordination with our District COVID-19 Coordinator, the Superintendent will continue to review the following COVID-19 data on a weekly basis. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to changing learning models. Decisions must be based on clear trends and operational feasibility, not on a single datapoint. We also cannot rely solely on case numbers. For example, if we had a staffing shortage due to wide-spread illness, a move to Distance Learning might need to happen even if the case data supported a different learning model. The district considering several data points and sources:
- State of Minnesota COVID-19 data by county, specifically for Dakota County and Scott County.
- Lakeville Area Schools school building COVID-19 positive case data and quarantine data.
- Staffing and operational capacity and readiness, including substitute teacher coverage, support staff coverage, educator workload, and operational capabilities such as busing and food service.
